Reds 'Most Likely' Done Making Offseason Moves

Feb 1, 2016 12:56 AM

The Cincinnati Reds made an offer to Bronson Arroyo, but the veteran pitcher opted to sign with the Washington Nationals.

There is no other veteran starter on the open market that the club is interested in.

"Less likely now," Walt Jocketty said of adding a veteran arm. "We had an offer to Bronson, but it just wasn't good enough."

With February approaching, the Reds don't anticipate any more moves.

"We're still talking to clubs, but I don't see anything happening," Jocketty said. "That could change in the next phone call, though."

The Tampa Bay Rays will reportedly acquire Corey Dickerson from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Jake McGee.

A number of reports indicate that each team will also receive a Minor League pitcher from the other.

The Rockies signed Gerardo Parra earlier in the offseason, leading many to believe a trade was necessary to sort out a crowded outfield.

Jonathan Lucroy Wants Brewers To Trade Him

Jan 22, 2016 9:11 AM

The Milwaukee Brewers are in the early stages of a rebuilding program and Jonathan Lucroy thinks it would be best for both sides if he were traded.

"I'm not going to sit here and say we're going to compete for the playoffs this year," Lucroy told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "If I did that, you'd call me a liar. I'd lose credibility and respect.

"I want to win and I don't see us winning in the foreseeable future. I want to go to a World Series. That's what all players want. Rebuilding is not a lot of fun for any veteran guy."

Lucroy has been the subject of trade rumors for several months. His contract includes a $4 million salary in 2016 and $5.25 million club option for 2017.

"Yeah, absolutely. I want to win," he said. "It's not guaranteed that I'm going to win if I am traded. But I'm going to be a 30-year-old catcher (in June). I can't put numbers on how much longer I'm going to play, but as players we want to win. I don't care about the money; I just want to win. That's the bottom line."

Rockies Getting Calls About Surplus Outfielders

Jan 20, 2016 7:36 AM

The Colorado Rockies have a surplus of outfielders and are listening to offers as the offseason progresses.

"There have been clubs calling from the get-go," general manager Jeff Bridich said.

"The outfield market in general, one that's combining the free-agent market with the trade market, has been one that's been pretty slow moving. But teams have been checking in ever since free agency started. There hasn't been anything that's made us say, 'Yeah, that makes a lot of sense for us, short and long term.' And we feel like an addition like this can only help us. It's obviously a good thing."

Colorado's three-year, $27.5 million deal with Gerardo Parra is set to become official this week. He joins Carlos Gonzalez, Charlie Blackman, Corey Dickerson and Brandon Barnes in Colorado's outfield.

Jan 18, 2016 8:47 AM

The Miami Marlins made separate trade offers to the Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds for Marcell Ozuna earlier this offseason.

Miami wanted starting pitching back in both deals, according to a report.

The offers came before the Marlins signed Wei-Yin Chen, so the likelihood of a trade now appears slim.
